Abstract

749,786. Centrifugal separators. AKTIEBOLAGET SEPARATOR. Aug. 31, 1953 [Sept. 4, 1952], No. 24020/53. Class 23. A separator for separating liquids or liquids and solids comprises a rotary bowl having a separating chamber 2 with an axial length greater than the diameter, inlet channels 3 at one end of the chamber and discharging into the chamber at the periphery, passages or channels 4 arranged for substantially radial flow at the other end of the chamber, and one or more discharge passages 5, 6 having inlet ends opening into the chamber between the channels 3, 4. The bowl has openings 8 for discharge of the heaviest component. As shown the channels 4 are between radial vanes, but in a modification the passages may be constituted by the spaces between a stack of annular or frusto-conical plates. In further modifications the outlets 8 are omitted, and more than two components are discharged from the centre of the chamber.
