Abstract
749,327. Rotary agitators. OSBORNE ENGINEERS, Ltd. Nov. 30, 1954 [Dec. 18, 1953], No. 35250/53. Addition to 695,227 [Group III] Class 86. In the rotary agitator described in the parent Specification, namely, one comprising a shaft 6, Fig. 1, upon which is secured one or more plates or discs 7, 11, each having a plurality of tubular elements 16 rigidly attached to and spaced around the periphery thereof, the bores of some, at least, of the tubular elements are tapered, preferably from the obliquely-cut leading edge 16a or 17a to the trailing edge 16b or 17b, Figs. 3 and 4. If the agitator is intended to be oscillated or rotated in either direction, each tubular element may be as shown in Fig. 4, that is with a bore diameter decreasing inwardly from each end 18a, 18b so as to form a constriction at a middle point 18c.
