Abstract

748,197. Mixing-machines. SHAW & CO., Ltd., F. Feb. 14, 1955 [Nov. 18, 1953], No. 31954/53. Class 86. An internal mixer for use in compounding rubber, plastics, paints, pigments and like materials has two co-operative rotors between which the material to be compounded passes, one rotor having two double helical teeth and the other having three double helical teeth. As shown, shafts 1, 2 carry rotors 3, 4, respectively, the rotor 3 having two double helical teeth in which the teeth 5 of one helix are pitched-on one tooth space beyond the teeth 6 of the other helix. The rotor 4 has three double helical teeth, the teeth 7 of one helix being staggered with respect to the teeth 8 of the other helix. The teeth may be of any desired shape, such as involute or cycloidal.
