Abstract
745,799. Face conveyers. STAMICARBON N.V. June 30, 1954 [July 2, 1953], No. 19210/54. Class 78 (1). In a face conveyer provided with a trough formed by a plurality of sections which are capable of a certain articulation one with respect to the other, and carrying on one of its walls a sectional guide rail for a reciprocatable mining-machine, between each guide rail section 8 and the adjacent wall 2 of the conveyer section there is provided a guide-plate section 11 adapted to provide a vertical guide face for the machine. The angle forming between adjacent rail sections 8 when the conveyer sections articulate is reduced by making the sections 8, 11 shorter than the conveyer sections and providing short plate and guide rail sections 15, 20 which bridge over the ends of adjacent conveyer sections, these sections being held in place so that the adjoining conveyer sections may articulate in the vertical and horizontal planes relative thereto. The sections 8, 11 are secured to the trough by bolts 7 which engage in blocks 5 secured by bolts 6 between pairs of plate members 4 provided in a channel 3 in the wall 2. The sections 11 are properly located by studs 9 protruding from the back of the sections 8 fitting in holes 10 in the sections 11, the heads of the bolts 7 passing into the recesses 13 of the studs so as to be kept clear from the channel 14 of the guide rail which may serve as a guideway for the hauling means of the machine. Braces 12 on the section 11 fitting in the channel 3 enable the section to be centred on its trough section. Each plate section 15 is of such a length that a gap 16 is left between each end of the section and the end of the adjacent section 12, and is provided with tongues 17 which engage in recesses 18 in the sections 11, a small clearance being allowed between the tongues and recesses so that the long and short plate sections are capable of a slight relative articulation in the vertical plane. In a modification (Fig. 9, not shown), the tongues are provided on the sections 11 and are each formed with a rounded end portion which engages in a recess in the section 15. Each rail section 20 is secured to its plate section 15 by welds 22 deposited around the edges of holes 21 formed in it. Specifications 719,674, 729,078, 729,079 and 729,374 are referred to.
