Abstract

720,491. Mowing machines. AIR CONTROL INSTALLATIONS. Ltd., NEWTON, C. M., UPTON, F. W. J., CLIFFORD, G. E., and MOUL, F. D. Feb. 5, 1953. [March 13, 1952] No. 6589/52. Class 6 (2). A tractor .drawn suction operated grass collector for use with mower units 35 comprises a hood 34 mounted over each unit and each connected by a flexible pipe 33 to a conduit 29 extending from a manifold 28 situated on the suction side of a fan casing 20. Grass cuttings enter the centre of the fan and are thrown outwardly into a conduit 42 connected by a conduit 43 to an adjustable shoot 44 which feeds 'grass into a wheeled van 11. The fan is driven by a belt and pulley gearing from a motor 27 but may be driven from road wheels or by the tractor power shaft. In a modification the collector is coupled to the tractor and feeds grass into a van towed behind the collector. Specification 688,728, [Group XXV], is referred to.
