Abstract
727,398. Filters; filtering media. TECALEMIT, Ltd. April 1, 1952 [April 5, 1951], No 7971/51. Class 46. In a filter element comprising a sheet of filter material folded across its length to form vertical pleats, adjacent surfaces of the pleats being kept apart by vertically spaced, opposed separator elements projecting beyond the plane of the surface of the sheet, the separator elements 3 are arranged in rows and the elements in each row are spaced longitudinally from each other, the elements are produced by deforming the filter sheet so that sections thereof project inwards or outwards from the sheet 2. The sheet is assembled round a support such as a perforate outlet tube 4, Fig. 2, and its ends clipped by a thin strip of metal 5. The assembly is sealed by plastic cement or the like in flanged end caps 7 to which sealing rings 11 are secured. The complete filter element is accommodated in a housing 30 having inlet 31 and outlet 32. The filtering sheet 2 may be paper preferably resinimpregnated ; the support tube 4.may be zinc, aluminium or steel ; the end caps 7 may be aluminium, or resin-impregnated card or other fibrous substance ; the sealing discs 11 may be resin-impregnated card.
