Abstract
715,924. Ships' davits. L'ALUMINIUM FRANCAIS. May 21, 1952 [May 24, 1951], No. 12887/52. 'Class 115 A gravity davit includes a lazy-tongs mechanism comprising a main arm 1 from the end of which the boat is suspended, a secondary arm 2 and a pair of links 9. 10 connecting the arms, the main arm 1 being supported by the secondary arm and the links for bodily and angular movement between its inboard and outboard positions. The secondary arm turns about a fixed pivot 3 at its lower end while the main arm 1 pivots at its lower end about a roller 4 running in a track 5 provided with a stop 14 which determines the outboard position. In a modification, the roller 4 is mounted on an upward extension of the link 10 and runs in a track in the vertical pillar 13 which carries a pulley 12 for the falls.
