Abstract
714,590. Reciprocating pumps. DUVAL, B., and WADDINGTON, R. S. July 28, 1952 [April 27, 1951; April 27, 1951], Nos. 9955/51 and 9956/61. Class 102 (1). [Also in Group XIV] In a dispensing device the pump plunger comprises a part 8 that can enter and close an inlet 6, connecting the container 25 to the pumping chamber 1, and a part 9 that enters, with clearance, the outlet 7; a spring 13 urges the plunger downwards so that a washer 11 seals the outlet. In the position shown, liquid flows from the container to fill the chamber 1 and when the plunger is raised, the part 8 first closes the inlet and then the liquid is discharged through the passage between the part 9 and the outlet 7. On the first part of the return stroke, the suction prevents drip at the outlet. The part 6 may .enter the inlet normally and have a cut-away portion. The part 9 may fit the outlet, which is then provided with grooves or the outlet may be tapered and the part 9 stepped. The filling aperture 31 may have slots 32 to prevent siphoning of the contents. The container may be secured to a wall bracket 33 by a pin 39 that is flush with the top member 27 and may be removed by inserting a tool with a depression at the end through an aperture 41 to engage the sharp end 42; this renders unauthorised removal difficult.
