Abstract

693,198. Endless conveyers. AUMUND, H. May 29, 1951. [Nov. 18, 1948] No. 12612/51. Class 78 (i). A conveyer band e.g. for mine workings comprises band elements in the form of sheet metal slats 8 arranged between two drawing chains 7 so that each overlaps the next, each slat being secured to opposed elements of the chains, whereby the slats are pivotally connected by the chain links, and being supported by pairs of rollers 4 guided on a fixed rail track, and provided at such interval that the band is able to follow undulations in the rail track. As shown each twelfth slat 8 is provided with a pair of brackets 19 supporting the axle of a pair of rollers 4. Rollers 4 run on rails 5 in the upper run and on angle irons in the lower run of the band. Between adjacent pairs of rollers the chains 7 are prevented from dropping out of line by projections 12 on the inner faces of some of the outer links engaging noses 11 formed by elongating some of the inner links. This arrangement allows flexing into a downwardly concave form only (Fig. 6). Flexing of the band as a whole in both vertical and horizontal planes is however made possible by providing a slat 16 adjacent each roller 4 with a vertical pivot 15 on which two plates 13, 14 are pivoted the chains 7 being made in sections the adjacent ends of which are respectively pivoted on horizontal pins 21 on the plates 13, 14.
