685,373. Cooling radiators for I.C. engines. SOC. DE RECHERCHES TECHNIQUES ET D' EXPLOITATIONS INDUSTRIELLES. Aug. 24, 1949 [Oct. 18, 1948], No. 21991/49. Class 64 (iii) A radiator for a water-cooled I.C. engine comprises a bank 1 of annular, axially aligned cooling elements spaced apart and each comprising two plates having annular corrugations mutually abutting at their crests to form a plurality of concentric water-passages of uniform cross-section, the water passages of adjacent elements being displaced radially Figs. 2 and 5 (not shown) so that sinuous radially extending passages are formed therebetween, air being forced through these radially extending passages by a fan, and cooling water from the engine water-jacket being circulated to and from the water passages in the bank through at least one supply tube 12a and at least one outlet tube 12b on which tubes the individual elements and interposed joint rings are threaded. The supply and discharge tubes 12a, 12b, and also a further tube 12c extend through headers 7a, 7b and 8 formed by omitting the corrugations from the end portions 6 and from a central portion of the elements, fluid communication between headers and tubes being established through slots 14 formed in the tubes (Fig. 3). The tube 12c is closed at each end and is provided with a drain cock 30.
