Abstract
684,230. Centrifugal pumps; jet propulsion plant. ARMSTRONG SIDDELEY MOTORS, Ltd. July 25, 1951 [Sept. 8, 1950], No. 22154/50. Classes 110(i) and 110(iii) In a rocket motor the liquid oxidizer is supplied to the combustion chamber through a pump and valve, both of which have bypass lines to the reservoir. As shown, liquid oxygen is fed from the reservoir 11 through valve 13, pump 15 and the main valve 18. By-pass pipes 20, 25 lead-from the main valve and pump respectively to 11. Pipe 25 communicates with the pump inlet duct through a valve (not shown) which permits the vapour accumulated in the pump prior to starting to return to the reservoir thus priming the pump and which is closed by the pump output pressure when the latter is in operation.
