Abstract

675,355. Folding furniture underframes. GEORGE, G. (Hanxleden, H.). Dec. 6, 1950. No. 29902/50. Class 52 (iii). A collapsable stool or table comprises a detachable top and an underframe comprising two inverted U- shaped members 3, 4 telescopically and rotatably arranged in the tubes 1, 2 as shown. The height may be varied by means of spring catches arranged on the members 3, 4 adapted to engage selected apertures or bores 5 in the tubes 1, 2. To collapse the stool &c. two diagonally opposite vertical members of the underframe are brought together and then the parts are rotated towards each other about the axis of the legs which are now adjacent until the form shown in Fig. 4 is obtained. The top plate 6 which has strips on its underside to form grooves is then clipped in position around the legs. Other forms of top may be provided. The height at one side may be adjusted differently from that of the other side so that the top forms a slope as in a desk.
