Abstract

661,697. Splicing threads. ABBOTT MACHINE CO. April 1, 1949 [April 30, 1948, No. 8894/49. Drawings to Specification. Class 120(iii). Two ends of thread are joined by taking the twist out of a length at each end at least equal to the average length of fibres in the thread, placing the untwisted ends together, drafting them and restoring the original twist. The draft is preferably twice the length of the untwisted ends and in untwisting, the twist is preferably forced back into the rest of the thread.
