A windscreen cleaner comprises a blade pivotally attached to an actuating arm so that it will rock to a rearwardly inclined position at the beginning of each stroke, and a nozzle carried by the arm to move therewith and by which a stream of liquid is delivered on to the screen, wherein the blade is interposed between the nozzle and the screen so that the liquid is ejected from the nozzle on to the back of the blade from which it flows directly on to the screen in advance of the blade due to the rocking movement of the blade. Water or other liquid is supplied at a predetermined pressure and for a predetermined time of delivery by a pump 10<SP>1</SP> through a tube 10, attached to the wiper arm 3 by bands 17, to a nozzle 9 at the outer end of the arm. The rubber wiper blade 2 is fixedly or loosely positioned in a channelled holder 13 having a flat back surface 12. The holder 13 is mounted for rocking movement relative to the arm 3, so that the blade 2 may assume an inclined position on the windscreen 1 as it moves thereover, by means of an attaching clip 6 which may be of the type described in Specification 632,953. Liquid is delivered from the nozzle 9 in a direction indicated at 11, Fig. 2, substantially normal to the windscreen on to the back 12 of the holder 13 whence it is deflected in the direction 15 on to the windscreen in advance of the wiper blade moving in the direction of the arrow 14. When the wiper blade is moving in the opposite direction to that shown in Fig. 2 it is oppositely inclined on the screen to the position depicted, so that the liquid stream is again directed on to the screen in advance of the moving wiper blade.
