Abstract

[Class 44] '[Also in Group XIV] A fitment for supporting shelves comprising a slotted upright 1 and a co-operating supporting bracket with an arm 3 hooked to engage a slot and a strut 4 pivoted at its outer end to the arm has a wedge at the other end of the strut to engage in a slot and increase the rigidity of the supporting structure. The strut is formed of U-cross-section, the lower end having its sides pinched together to form a solid piece 8 cut away to leave a gap 8a and a notch 9 which engages over the edge of a slot. A sliding strip 10 with a wedge-shaped end 10a resting on the solid piece 8 is mounted within the strut and urged into the slot by means of a compression spring 13 acting between a bent over extension of the strip and a stop 14.
