Abstract
649,557. Fusible cut-outs. BRITISH, MECHANICAL PRODUCTIONS, Ltd., OSBORN, F. T., and SHOREY, L. W. Oct. 19, 1948, No. 27173. [Class 38 (i)] A plug-in carrier for a cartridge fuse comprises a longitudinally-divided housing 1 embracing two parallel, spaced contact pins each of which is bent up from strip to provide two spaced legs 4 and a connecting loop 3, each leg being curved intermediate its ends to provide a clip portion 5 embracing a cap 12 of a cartridge fuse when the latter is inserted through an opening 14 in one wall of the housing into a recess 10 in the latter. The fuse caps are loosely held until the carrier is inserted in a socket whereupon the closing together of the legs 4 of each pin causes the clip portions to grip the caps. Closure means for the opening 14, such as a sliding plate or U-shaped spring cap, and an inspection aperture for the fuse may be provided. In a modification, Fig. 8 (not shown), one leg only of each pin is shaped to embrace a fuse cap. Specification 522,711 is referred to.
