Abstract
648.973. Floors: roofs. COCKING W. C. Oct. 20, 1947, Nos. 28025 and 28872. Convention dates. Oct. 20, 1947 and Oct. 29, 1947. [Class 20(iv)] Floors and roofs are formed of reinforced concrete cast on permanent shuttering comprising a soffit of closely butting wood-wool and cement sheets on which are arranged spaced wood-wool and cement rib slabs, reinforcing elements for the concrete being located in the spaces between these slabs. The shuttering may comprise preformed units each formed of a rib slab or two or more rib slabs, either spaced side by side or superimposed one on another or both, secured longitudinally of a soffit sheet, the slabs being of the same length as the soffit sheet but narrower. As shown in Fig. 1, the soffit sheets 2 are supported on temporary centering 1, the slabs 3, 4, laid transversely with reinforcements 6 between, are secured thereto and to each other by mortar with or without nails, and the concrete 8 is cast in the spaces between the slabs and over their tops. Fig. 6 is an end view of a preformed shuttering unit with rectangular wood-wool and cement blocks 10 secured at intervals along the tops of the slabs 4; the concrete is cast level with the tops of the blocks, and transverse reinforcements may be arranged in the spaces between them; units are described with one, two or three slabs in each rib, with or without the blocks 10. A plaster &c. ceiling may be provided beneath the sheets 2 after removal of the temporary centering.
