Abstract

632,713. Spray-producers. BURNAM, T. W., and RAMSAY, G. D. May 21, 1947, No. 13692. Convention date, Oct. 19, 1945. [Class 69 (iii)] A nozzle, more particularly for fire sprinkler systems, comprises two relatively movable parts 2, 5, held in closed position together by a spring 9. On application of fluid under pressure via the threaded portion 1 the lower half 5 is forced downwards and the cover 15 is forced away as shown in Fig. 2. Jets 4, 4a and 13 are uncovered and converge on one another to form a fine spray or fog; similarly a lower set of jets 14 impinge on one another. When the fluid pressure is cut off the nozzle closes to the position shown in Fig. 1 covering all the nozzle jets against ingress of dirt and foreign matter liable to clog the jets and render the nozzle inoperative. Various modifications and arrangements are described.
