632,293. Dynamo - electric machines. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. Oct. 17, 1945, No. 27132. Convention date, Oct. 28, 1944. [Class 35] In a drooping characteristic generator or a motor an auxiliary magnetic member carrying a series winding extends between the junctions of two adjacent poles with the yoke. In the form shown, the split pole generator has saturated main polar projections 2, 3 and unsaturated auxiliary - projections 4, 5 carrying coils 12-15 connected between auxiliary brush 11 and a main brush, while the coil 23 on member 20 is in series with opposing coils 16, 17 on the auxiliary pole members. Coils 16, 17 may be omitted. In another form without auxiliary brushes and two pole-pieces only, one carries a series coil and the other a shunt or separately excited coil or both, the series coil opposing the other or others.
