Abstract
603,467. Tubular heat-exchangers. ABBEY, A. (Aktiebolaget Gotaverken). Nov. 29, 1945, No. 32310. [Class 64(iii)] An economiser or like heat-exchanger comprises detachable elements superposed in a flue 2 each element comprising serpentine pipes 3, 4 supported in a frame to form a withdrawable rectangular unit 1 and detachably connected to headers 5, 6 located outside-the walls of the flue. The free ends of the pipes may be carried through the headers and closed by nuts 7 which seal against the walls of the headers and force flanges 8 into sealing contact with the opposite walls. The pipes 3, 4 are connected at their bends by studs 11 resting in cylindrical members 12 to allow expansion. The units may be connected to headers with a sideways displacement so that the units are staggered.
