Abstract
605,659. Liquid-fuel burners. HAUTON, P. M. J. Jan. 2, 1946, No. 172. [Class 75(i)] In a burner for liquid fuel in which the fuel is supplied through an inlet 2 to a central pipe 4 communicating by ducts 10 with a burner aperture 13 between a cap 8 and a guide piece 6 and steam or other atomising medium is supplied through an inlet 3 to the annular passage between the pipe 4 and the guide piece 6 leading to the burner aperture, the pipe 4 is formed with a comparatively large number of straight or helical fins 12 abutting the wall of the guide piece 6 to ensure an even flame. The upper and lower surfaces of the pipe 4 are formed with spaced projections 11, 14 to divide the fuel and steam passages into a number of ducts having adjacent discharge openings communicating with the burner aperture, each of the fins 12 being in line with a projection 11 and a projection 14.
