Abstract
597,570. Hydroplane vessels. PERSSON, H. March 17, 1944, No. 4990. [Class 113 (ii)] A hydroplane vessel, suitable for cargo and/or passengers or as an aircraft carrier, comprises a relatively shallow hull 2 of substantially rectangular cross-section carrying relativelydeep spaced longitudinal keels 4 extending substantially the whole length of the hull, carrying rudders 10 and screw-propellers 12, and provided between and outside them with laterally-extending under-water planes 6, 7, a part 6<1>, 7<1> or the whole of each of which is angularly adjustable to vary its angle of incidence. The keels 4 are integral with the hull 2 and are unapertured except where they accommodate the propellers 12. The driving units for the propellers may be accommodated within the keels. A, B represent, respectively, the water line when the vessel is at rest and under way.
