Abstract

581,912. Casting composite cylinders. JACK & HEINTZ, Inc. Jan. 18, 1944, No. 983. Convention date, Dec. 17, 1942. [Class 83 (i)] In order to make a lined cylinder, a liner 7 is first diecast and then the cylinder unit 3 of like metal is die-cast directly thereon. The process can be used in making servocylinder units for automatic pilots from magnesium or aluminium or alloys thereof or for air or hydraulic cylinders generally. The cylinder unit may comprise three lined bores and each end of each has a screw-thread 9 cut therein. The liners may be provided with smooth bores during or after casting them.
