Abstract

Polyvinyl acetals are heat-stabilized by incorporating therein a small amount of urea, thiourea or alkyl or aryl ureas or thioureas. Specified stabilizers are urea; methyl, tetramethyl, tetraethyl, N-N1-dibutyl, monophenyl, p-phenetyl and N-N1-dimethyl-N-N1-diphenyl ureas; and allyl, methyl and diethyl thioureas. Colourless films are made by deposition of the stabilized resin from alcoholic solution.
