Abstract
570,514. Making saws. SPEAR & JACKSON, Ltd., and PARSONS, G. W. Dec. 28, 1943, No. 21731. [Class 83 (ii)] [Also in Group XXIII] Saw teeth are tipped with hard metal by setting the teeth to the required angle, brazing or otherwise applying a small mass of hard metal c to one side of each tooth b so as to be located in the plane of the body a, Fig. 3, then removing all metal outside the plane of the body and re-setting the teeth, Fig. 5, each to the side opposite to the original setting. The hard metal is thus not bent and may comprise sintered hard metal alloy. The metal may be removed by grinding. The teeth b may be integral with the body a or may be inserted as single teeth or in segments.
