575,601. Vehicle frame members. REYNOLDS TUBE CO., Ltd., and REYNOLDS, E. A. Aug. 31, 1944, No. 16591. [Class 108 (i)] A frame member a for an omnibus or other vehicle body comprises an extruded metal bar a of hollow cross section having two pairs of longitudinal flanges b, c extending from its opposite sides and having also another longitudinal flange or pair of flanges d extending along another side at right-angles to the other flanges. The longitudinal flanges b, c, may have their outer faces lying in or slightly behind the planes containing the inner and outer faces of the bar and serve for the attachment thereto of the sheet metal panels forming the inner and outer surfaces of the vehicle body and also for the attachment of the waist rails. The flange or flanges d forms supports on which the floor or floors are carried and for seat rail or other attachments, the unrequired portions of the flange or flanges being cut away. Parts of the flanges band c may also be cut away to accommodate the windows.
