Abstract
574,747. Lifting-jacks. FEARN, H. Jan. 27, 1944, No. 1525. [Class 78 (iii)] [Also in Group XXXII] A jack for unditching a tractor comprises a triangular frame 44, Fig. 2, which, when required, is connected by a pin 37, Fig. 1, to a vertically slidable sleeve 35 on a post 30 connected by stays 32, 33 to the tractor. The sleeve 35 is normally moved up or down the post 30 by a screw 39 to vary the position of the coupling 36 connected to the draught bar 14 of the towed vehicle, but the coupling is removed when the jack is to be used. In a modification Fig. 3 the jack frame 44 is connected by a pin with the sleeve 35 which is movable along the post 30 by a link 46 pivoted at 47 to the sleeve, and at 49 to the stay 32 by means of a slot 48. The link is raised or lowered by a hydraulic ram 45 supplied by a pump 50 operated manually by a handle 51 or by means of the tractor engine. Specification 564,165, [Group XXXII], is referred to.
