562,657. Drills, reamers, taps, &c. LANFRANCONI, F. A. Jan. 6, 1943, No. 249. [Class 83 (iii)] Drills, reamers, taps and like tools have a groove 2 cut in the upper pari of the shank above the cutting part of the tool, the depth of the groove cutting down the cross-section to about the same area as the minimum section of the cutting part of the too so that in the event of overstrair fracture occurs at the groove leaving sufficient of the shank protruding to enable the tool to be removed. The sharp edge 4 may be rounded off.
