Abstract
567,621. Hair waving. HALL, F. G. June 22, 1943, No. 10055. [Class 131] In hair waving the coiled tress is heated by means of a pivoted clamp comprising jaws 13, 14 having insulated finger pieces 18, 19 and attached to each jaw is a curved metal plate 25, 30 forming a socket 27 with the jaws 13, 14 for the reception of a long-handled heater 11 whereby the coiled tress is heated and the clamp prevented from undesired movement while upon the head. The heater 11 may be of the electric resistance type and is inserted at one end of the clamp socket and positioned by means of a lug at the other end. The tress is first passed through the usual scalp protector 32 and coiled on a flannel strip bent to form leaves 34, 35 embracing a wire 36. A flannel sachet 38 having a leaf of metal foil is then wrapped about the coil and the whole held in position by bending over the wire 36 and the heating clamp is then placed in position and the heater inserted.
