Abstract
566,337. Gas turbine plants. SULZER FRERES SOC. ANON. June 18, 1943, No. 9818. Convention date, July 11, 1942. [Class 110 (iii)] A low-pressure turbine 7 driving a generator 9 and a high-pressure turbine 6' driving low- and high-pressure air compressors 1, 3, respectively, are each provided with byepass pipes 14, 13. Regulating valves 16, 17 are provided to control the amount of gas byepassing the turbines in accordance with the load, or for plant shutting-down purposes when the throttle valve is closed. Air passes through an intercooler 2 between the compressor stages; is heated in a heat-exchanger 4 fed by exhaust gases from the turbine 7, and again heated in a furnace 5 before passing to the turbines. A cooler 8 is provided. A generator 10 which may be used as a motor when starting up the plant, may also be driven by the turbine 6. Additional air may be supplied by a compressor 11 driven by a motor 12.
