Abstract

565,012. Viscous mineral oil compositions. BAIRD, W., WILSON, W. J., and IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd. Jan. 25, 1943, No. 1229. [Class 91] Viscous mineral oils, such as turbine and transformer oils, are stabilised by the addition thereto of a small proportion of a diarylamine accompanied by a small proportion of a compound of general formula HO-X-CH = N-Y, wherein Y denotes either an aliphatic chain (branched or not) terminating in the group - N = CH-X-OH or else a hydroxyl group and X denotes o-arylene which may carry one or more alkyl or alkoxy substituents. Diarylamines specified comprise phenyl alpha- or #- naphthylamine and the accompanying compounds, salicylaldoxime, disalicylalethylene diamine, or disalicylalpropylene diamine.
