Abstract

558,854. Acid amides; wax substitutes, inks; crayons; carbon paper. NATIONAL OIL PRODUCTS CO. June 15, 1942, No. 8139. Convention date, June 17, 1941. [Class 2 (iii)] [Also in Groups V and XV] Wax substitutes are obtained by condensing 1/3 to 2/3 of a molecular proportion of hydrogenated castor oil having an iodine value of 11 or less with one molecular proportion of an aliphatic polyamine at 125-250‹C. In examples hydrogenated castor oil is condensed with diethylenetriamine and ethyllenediamine. The partial glycerides and glycerine liberated act as plasticizers and are not removed from the products. The latter may be used as a substitute for carnauba wax in printing ink, and in mould lubricants, crayons, carbon paper, polishes and dressings for paper twine, thread and cords. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 includes the condensation of polyamines in general with fatty acids or amide forming derivatives thereof. This subjectmatter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
