Abstract

555,263. Automatic guns. VICKERS-ARMSTRONGS, Ltd., and HIGSON, P. R. March 3, 1941, No. 2862. [Class 92 (ii)] A machine gun of the longrecoil type has the breech block provided with a single plate-like spring-controlled pivoted member furnished with a claw to act as an extractor for the cartridge case and an inclined face to act as a feed-piece for the round. In the form shown applied to a light cannon, a single member 4, pivoted at 6 to the front of the breech block 5, functions as an extractor with its nose I and as a cartridge feed-piece with its surface 8. The cam member 9 serves to move the nose of a cartridge 1 downwardly from the magazine into engagement with a spring support 10 forming a guide for the cartridge during its forward movement.
