Abstract

543,917. Resilient mountings. METALASTIK, Ltd., & GOLDSCHMIDT, M. Oct. 19, 1940, No. 15466. [Class 108 (iii)] Vertically loaded machines or instruments are mounted upon rubber or like elastic elements m loaded rigidly in shear, the rubber being bonded to metal surfaces or flanges n, o which lie. in planes or surfaces directed substantially through the centre of gravity c of the machine. The flanges n, o may be integral with or attached to base plates b, d and may be arranged either below as shown or above as a suspension element or in both positions. The base plates may be circular, rectangular or of other shape and the rubber element may consist of separate blocks or of a continuous ring. In one modification, the rubber blocks are concentric and all loaded to a centre bolt in line with the centre of gravity and to the inside of a circular sleeve. Each rubber 'element may consist of two blocks, both loaded to a centre flange forming part of one base plate and each bonded to a separate outer flange both of which are secured to the other base plate. Excessive movement may be prevented by a rubber compression member.
