Abstract

532,368. Fourdrinier paper-making machines. AKTIEBOLAGET KARLSTADS MEKANISKA WERKSTAD. Aug. 28, 1939, No. 24690. Convention date, Aug. 31, 1938. [Class 96] To prevent air from being entrained by the wire-cloth 3 travelling over the breast roll 4 and being carried into the pulp above the breast roll 4 of a Fourdrinier paper-making machine, one or more liquid or gaseous jets, e.g. of air are directed from a pipe &c. 11 at the bottom 6 of the breast-box outlet 2 tangentially to, and oppositely to the movement of, the wire-cloth. The pipe 11 may have rows of holes, a single slot the full width of the machine, or rows of overlapping slots directed to converge as illustrated. The direction of the jets is adjustable by turning the pipe 11 with a handle 15. The jets may be deflected towards the breast roll by a baffle plate which may be mounted to turn about the pipe 11.
