Abstract

531,399. Window shutters. GUEST, KEEN & NETTLEFOLDS, Ltd:, and OAKLEY, C. July 18, 1939, No. 20810. [Class 20 (iii)] Glass window panels are screened to prevent light being visible from above, or to prevent broken glass from falling inwardly, by protective panels 17 of rigid material such as sheet steel which are slidden in retaining members 13 engaging flanges on the glazing bars below the glass panels 16. Rectangular open sided tubes 13 are mounted between the flange 10 and web 11 of glazing bars 12, and form additional seating strips, the tops 18 providing seatings for the glass 16, and the lower edges 9 of slits 15 forming seatings for the protective panels 17 which have flanges 19 projecting into the tubes. Lead weather strips extending from the glazing bars are bent down to engage the upper sides of the glass. The panels are corrugated at 8. and have handles 34 by which they are moved into position, brackets 35 preventing complete removal. Shoes 36 are secured by bolts 37 to the lower ends of the glazing bars, and are slit at 38 to allow the protective panels to slide downwardly, pivoted stops 40 being turned to retain the panels in position.
