Abstract
539,118. Two-part couplings ; plug boards. AUTOMATIC TELEPHONE & ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., GRAVES, A. E., and HARRISON, W. A. Feb. 27, 1940, No. 3670. [Class 38 (i)] A junction box or connection panel for wiring systems has terminal strips fitted with readily disconnectible coupling members for connection with individual terminals attached to the ends of the several conductors enclosed in a cable, conduit &c. The terminal strips 3 of moulded insulation have cavities 4 for the coupling members 5, shown as double-ended sockets, which are retained in the cavities by the superposition of one strip on another, and by a cover 12 over the last strip. A recess 6 at the back of each strip accommodates conductive plates 26 that connect together certain of the members 5. Each cable 16<1> is fitted with a plug 18 having a collar 19 by which it is retained in place by a sliding slotted cover plate 22. Single ended coupling members connected by plates 26 may be employed. When two or more sizes of coupling members are used the larger cavities may be adapted for use with the smaller coupling members by the provision of liners.
