Abstract

513,765. Pressure gauges. BARNET INSTRUMENTS, Ltd., and GRANT, C. R. A. June 22, 1938, No. 18584. [Class 106 (ii)] Relates to the kind in which the pressure fluid is admitted to the casing instead of to the interior of the pressure responsive means in the casing and consists in providing that the means supplying the pressure fluid opens into the bottom of the casing. In boost gauges the fuel vapour is apt to condense in the casing and the liquid to accumulate. With the arrangement according to the invention this liquid is sucked back to the engine manifold each time the throttle is closed. in Fig. 2, the Bourdon tube is enclosed in a casing 11 and the threaded stem of a union 13 having a bead '14 extends'through a central hole in the closed end 12. A disc 16 welded or soldered to the bead 14 supports the pressure responsive means and the indicating movement. A thin tube 17 extends from an aperture in the centre of the disc 16 to the bottom of the casing. In another form the union has a large circular head in which is a radial bore extending to the bottom of the casing. In a further form the casing is moulded from plastic material and' a similar passage provided by boring through a thickened radial rib on the back of the casing.
