Abstract
492,709. Supporting forced - flow steam boilers. CLARKSON, A. Nov. 3, 1937, No. 30151. [Class 123 (ii)] Coiled water-tube steam boilers comprise a bank of connected coils 15-20 positioned one within another about a common central axis, the innermost coil enclosing a central heating space, and a number of separate spacers are positioned at intervals between adjacent turns of the coils which are staggered with respect to the turns of adjacent coils, some spacers being attached to both of the pair of turns and others to one turn only. The coil turns consist of horizontal circular loops connected to adjacent turns by small offset portions, the coils themselves being similarly connected at the ends of the bank. Spacers 46 which are preferably diametrically disposed and are welded or otherwise secured to adjacent turns 47, 48 and 49, 50, have lateral fingers 46 engaging the turn of an adjacent coil. Other spacers at right-angles are secured to one turn only. In addition, a number of sinuous spacers 45 are arranged round but not attached to the coils.
