Abstract

499,574. Boots and shoes. LATTEMANN, E. June 28, 1938, No. 19160. Convention date, Aug. 5, 1937. [Class 17 (ii)] With a view to obtaining correct action of the foot in walking, a flexible insole is provided with transverse tapering slots e extending from the outer edge to the inner ball area and solely in the ball area.. A wedge member b with corresponding slots may be provided to lift the outer ball area of the foot. This wedge has a thickness of 2À5 to 6 nun. and tapers to a sharp edge at a distance of 1 cm. from the inner edge. A thin soft covering of chrome-tanned leather may be adhesively united under pressure with the front part of the insole. A metatarsal arch support may be incorporated in the insole, and a short stiff spring extending from the centre of the heel bed to about 4-5 cm. in front of the heel may be provided to stiffen the connection between heel and sole.
