Abstract

496,475. Metal linings for excavations. MOESSMER, E., and BRITISH ELECTRIC RAY, Ltd. July 15, 1938, No. 21118. [Class 85] [Also in Group X] Sheet-meta] lining plates for use in tunnels, air-raid shelters, and underground chambers, are curved, and provided with a transverse rib b at each end extending across the entire width of the plates, and a longitudinal rib r near each edge, terminating short of the transverse ribs. Adjacent plates are secured together endwise by interfitting the end ribs, and laterally by interfitting the side ribs, and the plates may be provided with apertures c<1> on their edges for the reception of pins. The edge ribs may be uniform throughout or tapering from one end towards the other end in each sheet. A tunnel may be formed with two coaxial linings and concrete between them.
