[Class 18] A case for cigarettes &c. has a hinged corner portion 3 which can be turned aside to expose the end cigarette 2a and is provided with means to cause partial ejection of that cigarette, the turning aside of the corner and the operation of the ejecting means being effected as the result of a single manual operation. As shown, the corner is connected by a link 6 to a foot 5 positioned below the cigarette 2a so that, as the corner is turned aside, the cigarette is automatically projected. The corner is square or triangular in shape and carries a projection 3<11> by which it can be pushed aside. In an alternative construction the corner is spring urged to the open position and is released by sliding a button or pulling a chain, the ejecting means being connected to the corner releasing catch ; or the ejecting device may be operated manually and the corner catch be released by the ejecting device. The row of cigarettes is pushed towards the delivery end of the case by a follower 4 connected by lazytongs 7 to a plate 4<11> similar to the plate 4 and screwed to the end of the case. A spring 8 provides the motive force for the follower. The foot 5 may be replaced by a member engaging the cylindrical surface of the cigarette. To load the case, a sliding lid 9 is pulled out so that a screw 10 thereon can engage the lower end of the follower 4 and pull the latter back to the end of the case. The follower runs in and is guided by a slot 12 in the lid 9, and the screw 10 runs in a slot in the case.
