474,562. Cigarette-making machines. MULLER, J. C. Feb. 17, 1937, No. 4793. Convention date, March 27, 1936. [Class 130] In a cutting-mechanism for continuous-rod machines, the knife 6 is carried by a shaft 8 slidably journalled in a hollow shaft 11 and reciprocated by means of two diametrically opposite crank-pins 22, 23 disposed in the hollow shaft and driven by the rotation of the hollow shaft. As shown, the shaft 8 is connected by links 24 to the crank-pins 22, 23, which are carried by bevel gears 18, 19 meshing with a fixed bevel gear 17 and rotating on stub shafts 20, 21 journalled in the hollow shaft 11, which is driven by bevel gearing 14, 15 from the shaft 1. A ledger tube 5 is mounted on a carriage 4 reciprocated from the shaft 1 by means of an eccentric 2 and connecting-rod 3.
