[Class 81 (i)] A holder for volatizable material, such as ammonium carbonate or impregnated absorbent material, comprises an exterior member or cap 10, Fig. 1, moulded from synthetic resin, and an interior perforated container 11 which is a frictional sliding fit in the cap 10, so that the parts may be adjusted to vary the rate of evaporation, and is adapted by means of a slightly coned part 14 and a flange 14a to make a gas-tight connection with the cap 10 when closed. A cartridge, Fig. 2, for use in the container 11 comprises flanged end caps 16 holding an ammonium carbonate block 18 mounted on a conical spool 19 and surrounded by a tubular coil 17 of blotting paper impregnated with oil of lavender. In a modification for pocket or like use the perforated container or cage 33 telescopes within a cap 32 and is provided at its base with metal lugs 38a which, on assembly, spring over an internal flange 35 on the cap 32, but present complete separation of the parts. A cap or stopper 40 has a threaded portion 41 engaging the cage 33 and a threaded portion 42 engaging the cap 32. The cage contains a roll 44 of impregnated blotting paper enclosing tablets 45 of compressed ammonium carbonate, or may contain either alone. According to the Provisional Specification the inner perforated member may consist of a wire mesh screen mounted on a plinth and having, at its upper part, an outwardly turned springy lip or lugs to co-operate with notches on the outer member to hold the parts in adjusted position. The lugs may be barb-shaped to co-operate with a barb-shaped lip on the outer casing to prevent complete separation of the parts. The outer casing may have a sliding cover plate or screw cap to permit recharging an impregnated tightly compacted roll of impregnated blotting paper contained in the inner perforated member. In a modification the outer member has a spring pressed catch to engage the perforations of the inner member. The outer member, or the base of the inner member, may have lugs whereby the appliance may be secured to a wall.
