Abstract
457,578. Electric cables. OKONITECALLENDER CABLE CO., Inc., 730, 21st Avenue, Paterson, New Jersey, U.S.A. March 14, 1936, No. 7719. Convention date, March 16, 1935. [Class 36] A metal sheathed electric cable is provided with a longitudinally extending rip cord disposed between themetal sheath and the insulation, the rip cord being longer than the cable and having a wavy disposition so that the cable can be reeled without stretching and breaking the rip cord. In the example two rip cords 4, 5 consisting of crimped metal wire are disposed diametrically opposite each other and between an oil-impregnated paper insulation 2 and a temporary sheath 3 made of soft metal, for example lead. The sheath is used to protect the cable during transit to its installation site and is removed while the cable is being drawn into a pipe or conduit. Specification 409,678 is referred to.
