Abstract
439,551. Hand-loom weaving. NAAMLOOZE VENNOOTSCHAP NEDERLANDSCHE WOLSPINNERIJ, Amsterdam. March 5, 1934, No. 6919. Void [Abridged as open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, Sept. 5, 1934]. [Classes 142 (i), 142 (ii), and 142 (iv)] In beaming the warp for hand looms with rotatable beams, the warp is wound in a single continuous length alternately around the pins of two combs 9, 11, one at least being set up outside the loom frame at a distance from the other comb, providing an extra length which is wound up before the weaving commences. During weaving the combs may be used as the beams or are inserted in the beams. As shown in Fig. 3, the breast beam 4 with a comb 9 thereon, may be removed from its support 3 in the loom during the warping, the thread being passed around the pins on the combs 9, 11 and through the spaces between discs 13 on a shaft 1 and resting on eccentrics 14 thereon, or one of the combs may be removed from its roller during the beaming. Various means for removably fixing a comb into a beam, and for clamping the warp into a beam are described. Thus the beam 17, Fig. 5, may have a journal 18 formed with a slot 19 whereby it is rotated. The comb 21 having teeth 22 rests in a longitudinal slot in the beam and is provided at each end with a member 23 having a lug 24 resting in a depression 25 in a circular plate 26 fixed to a bush 27 turnable on the beam. It is first raised, the bush 27 is then rotated so that the part 24 passes into a deep depression 29 in the plate leading into a bayonet slot in the bush and the comb is then locked in position by turning back the bush. In one modification, the comb is hinged to the edge of a longitudinal slot in the beam ; in another the comb has at each end a journal 33, Fig. 13 having a pin 34. The comb 21 may be placed in brackets 36, Fig. 14 having arms 37 clamped to a bearing block of the beam, the threads being clamped in the beam by a clamping bar 39. A three cornered or a hinged clamping bar may be used.
