Abstract
439,517. Fusible cut-outs. CRABTREE, J. A., Endwood, Little Aston Park, Sutton Coldfield. June 15, 1934, No. 17709. [Class 38 (i)] A fusible cut-out consists of strips a of silver united by a mass b of cadmium applied and having their ends formed so as to provide a mechanical inlerlock between each strip and the mass. Thus, the ends may be dove-tailed or shaped as shown in Fig. 2, and the mass applied to them by pressure. In the form shown in Fig. 1 the ends are hook-shaped to engage with the mass. The strips are of sufficient width to retain the cadmium for a while after fusion. The strips may be reduced in cross section to control the rise of temperature, or alternatively may be partially covered by heat-insulating material.
