Abstract
A detergent composition consists of soap and sulphonated lauryl and oleyl alcohols or salts or esters thereof in such proportion that the soap is more than 25 per cent of the whole. For example, 25lb. of tallow mixed with 25lb. of coconut oil is saponified with 25lb. of soda lye of 38 DEG B<\>ae., and after separation of the glycerine there is added to the melted soap 25lb. of a mixture in any proportion of the sodium salts of sulphonated lauryl and oleyl alcohols. Or the salts may be milled into the soap. Specifications 379,534, 391,435, and 406,565 are referred to. According to the Provisional Specification sulphonated lauryl alcohol and/or sulphonated oleyl alcohol, or alkaline salts or esters thereof, are mixed with soap.
