Abstract
436,679. Ladder brackets. GOUDGE, A. W., 23, Southbridge Place, Croydon. July 14, 1934, No. 20677. [Class 20 (ii)] A device for supporting the upper end of a ladder away from a wall comprises arms 1 pivotally supported on clamps 4 which are clamped to the upper ends of the ladder stiles, hooked stops 8 being provided on the clamps to retain the arms in supporting position. Integral with or attached to the arms is a band 11 which is adapted to encircle the body of a person using the ladder so that both hands are free for use. The arms may be adjustably pivoted to studs projecting from the ladder sides, or may be adapted to slide in slideways pivoted on the ladder sides and extension pieces may also be provided for the arms.
