422,694. Thermionic cathodes. NAAMLOOZE VENNOOTSCHAP PHILIPS' GLOEILAMPENFABRIEKEN, Emmasingel, Eindhoven, Holland. Sept. 3, 1934, No. 25342. Convention date, Sept. 14, 1933. Drawings to Specification. [Class 39 (i)] An oxide cathode particularly for gas-filled tubes consists of a plurality of coated wire helices arranged one within another, at least one wire being traversed by the heating current. The helices are preferably arranged concentrically. In one form, two wires consisting of nickel wire wound on a tungsten core are helically coiled one within the other and are joined at one end to one lead-in. Separate leads are taken out at the other end so that either wire may be heated. The helices are insulated by their oxide coatings, or porcelain rods may be slipped between them.
